It’s been a busy summer at the lake house. We’ve been working on refreshing the kitchen with some nautical decor. You can change the look of any basic glass or ceramic jar using Washi Tape.
One advantage to using Washi tape, or other decorative tapes, it that you can change your design anytime you like. And with so many choices of colors and themes, you will want to change your mind often! I love this nautical set. Here’s how to get the look.
All you need is a wide mouth jar, some Washi Tape, black paint, and a white paint marker.
First, tape a rectangle with painters tape, and paint the rectangle black with acrylic craft paint or chalkboard paint.
When the paint is fully dry, cut strips of Washi Tape about an inch longer than the length and width of the black rectangle. Overlap the tape about an inch on each side.
Use a white paint pen to write a label onto the jar. I did this freehand by just looking at a cute font for reference, but you can always print your text and copy it to the jar.
Place a row of anchor tape around the bottom of the jar. You can use several rows here, it just depends on the look you want.
And that’s all you need to do to give some glass or ceramic jars some personality with tape. Wouldn’t these make great hostess gifts?
